Map of the Metropolitan Line (Met line)
Updated: June 2024
The Met is the world's first tube, opened in 1863. It was named after the company that built it, the Metropolitan Railway Company.
This line grew and expanded over the years until it reached the suburbs. Some original sections of the Metropolitan line became part of the Hammersmith, District and Circle lines.

Interesting Jubilee Line Facts
Apart from its functional role, the Jubilee Line is a testament to London's architectural innovation. Stations like Canary Wharf are often likened to modern cathedrals, with their vast, spacious designs. The extension also introduced platform edge doors, a first in the UK, enhancing safety and air circulation. Moreover, the line's unique history of being proposed as the 'Fleet line' and its transformation into the Jubilee Line, commemorating the Queen's Silver Jubilee, adds a regal touch to its story.
Whether for daily commute or exploring the city's diverse localities, the Jubilee Line remains a critical and fascinating part of London's transportation legacy.
